Privacy policy

emlē is a newsletter and website operated by Rock Valley Tech ("we", "us", "our"). This policy covers emle.io, our emails, and any related services we offer ("the service").

What we collect

• Information you give us, such as your email address, name, company, role, language, interests, answers to optional questions, and anything you send us when you subscribe, buy a plan or contact us.
• Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive details such as your name, email address, billing address, plan and payment status, but never your full card number. Stripe's handling of your data is described in the Stripe Privacy Policy.
• Information collected automatically. When you visit the site or open our emails, we and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies to collect usage data (pages visited, time spent, links clicked, emails opened), device information (IP address, browser, operating system) and approximate location.
• Information from third parties. We may combine what we collect with information from data providers and marketing partners, including publicly available business information such as the company a visitor works for.

How we use it

• to provide the service: send the newsletter, deliver paid content, and process payments;
• to communicate with you, including about new content, offers and changes to the service;
• to understand who visits the site and what interests them, including by building a profile from information collected automatically and from third parties, and to market to you based on it;
• to measure, operate, secure and improve the service, and to prevent spam and abuse;
• to comply with law and enforce our terms.

Who we share it with

We share personal information with service providers that act on our behalf: email delivery, payment processing (Stripe), hosting and infrastructure, analytics and advertising measurement, anti-spam, visitor identification, and internal communication tools. They may use it only to provide their services to us. We also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.

We do not sell your email address or payment information.

Cookies, analytics and opting out

We use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) and Google reCAPTCHA. How Google uses data from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. You can decline analytics cookies in our banner, and block or delete cookies in your browser.

To opt out of visitor identification, profiling and marketing, email legal@emle.io. To stop our emails, use the unsubscribe link in any of them.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above: subscriber information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, billing records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and technical logs for a limited period. We then delete or anonymize it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act and the GDPR, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, to access, correct or delete it, to receive a copy, to opt out of targeted advertising, profiling or any "sale" or "sharing" of it, and to object to or restrict how we use it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, email legal@emle.io; we may need to verify your identity, and we respond within the time the law requires. If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your data protection authority.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International users

We are based in the United States and process information there. By using the service from elsewhere, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Children

The service is for professionals and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we delete it.
